My inspiration and role model has always been my Mum who has always created dishes from around the world and excellently well. I do not believe I would ever match to her culinary skills. I remember the times she could cook and bake almost 4-5 dishes in one go without ever letting one go under cooked or burnt! Summer Recipe - Chocolate Malt Milkshake

I have come back with yet another simple summer drink for your loved ones and you. My toddler just loves this drink and it helps me as well as ever since summer started, she has disliked having her Junior Horlicks 1-2-3 with hot milk. What better way that to ensure some of that essential calcium gets consumed by your little one. I have been asked by friends and fellow bloggers/networking friends to include summer beverages for their little ones or themselves. So here is another one after the Banana Milkshake post!

Since chocolate is her fave, I decided to use some melted chocolate and hot chocolate cocoa to make this drink. I also used Junior Horlicks 1-2-3 in the mix to ensure she got her daily dose of Horlicks (Vitamins, Iron and yes more calcium). Served up in a beer mug instead of her regular milk glass, this pepped her interest all the more ;-)

Adults can also have this drink with your fave Malted Milk (powder) or extra scoop of hot chocolate powder or dark chocolate or Mint Chocolate. The options are many!

To make this simple drink,

You need

  • 250 ml of fresh cold milk
  • 11/2 tbsp of hot chocolate powder or 1 tbsp of melted chocolate and 1/2 tbsp of hot chocolate powder
  • 1 tbsp of Malted Milk powder (optional  Horlicks)
  • Pre-chilled beer mug
  • Hand shaker or airtight closed glass or blender
  • Crushed ice cubes (optional)
The Make

Serves 1 adult/child | Preparation Time: 2-3 minutes

1. Mix the warm melted chocolate or 1 tbsp of hot chocolate powder with milk and if using the latter (Hot choc powder), heat  4 tbsp of the milk and blend with the hot chocolate powder first.

2. In the shaker, add the chocolate milk, the malted milk powder, crushed ice cubes and the remaining cold milk and shake well.

3. Pour the milkshake in a pre-chilled beer mug and sprinkle with 1/2 tbsp of hot chocolate powder or chocolate sprinkles or grated chocolate on top. I added this to cover the Horlicks that I secretly mixed in my daughter's chocolate milkshake ;). So it was chocolate all the way :)!

4. Add a funky straw or serve as is. Serve cold!

Your kid will love you for this drink and will not stop until they drink up! :) Fight the summer heat with this cool and tasty drink!

    1. Hi Anonymous. As mentioned in the ingredients section along with malted milk powder, horlicks is optional. You can add it along with or instead of the malted milk powder. Hope this helps!
